I don't think TigerVNC's WinVNC implementation supports a mirror driver, so maybe that makes a bigger difference than I realize. I've had good luck with the UltraVNC Server using their mirror driver (which only works on Windows 7, unfortunately.) I have observed performance issues without it, although nothing as serious as you're describing. If that's also slow, then there is something else limiting the performance. If it doesn't, then try the TigerVNC Viewer with the UltraVNC server as a sanity check. Alternatively the control computer can use the regular http Internet. and control the other computer by using VNC Viewer, the viewer is using Port. If you're on a high-speed network, set the Compression Level in the TigerVNC viewer to 1 and the JPEG quality to 8 and make sure JPEG is enabled, and it should fly. The Computer that is use to Remotely control has two options. I can easily get more than 50 Megapixels/second out of it on a 100 Mbit network using 5-year-old hardware on the server and client side. The TurboVNC encoder is also used by libvncserver and (of course) TurboVNC. TigerVNC's encoder is based on the TurboVNC encoder that I developed, which is compatible with TightVNC but uses different (read: much faster) heuristics to determine which tiles to encode as JPEG and which to encode using indexed color. Ive been using UltrVNC for a while, and it is much better than TightVNC for many reasons. However, I know for a fact that the encoder is not a limiting factor. Copy / paste from UltraVNC requires the use of menus to be reliable attempt to copy paste using the CTRL + C / Ctrl + V is unreliable. The application encrypts VNC connections with the AES256 algorithm and also offers a button to send all. This is the plugin version compiled and signed by uvnc. Best of all Remmina lets you alter the colour depth of the remote desktop on the fly. The addons also contain the latest plugins. All versions are threadsafe, allowing the UltraVNC server to host multiple simultaneous viewers. There may be other factors limiting the performance. Classic interface for older UltraVNC versions 1.0.8.2 or below uses 2048-bit RSA keys and 128-bit AES keys. Have used Script Logic (now Quest subsidiary) Desktop viewer or something its called. Have used Dameware its anothor good product. I can't really speak to the actual operation of the TigerVNC Windows server. The only reason for me to use it as Real and Ultra VNC werent working on Windows 7.
